Meet Wendy... she is an unusual sponsorship opportunity for us to offer. When we heard her story we had to say YES - we will find her a sponsor. Wendy is 22 and has been attending a collage near Nairobi for those with special needs. Wendy is deaf, but has not let her disability stop her. She is pursuing a career in hospitality,  catering and hospital service. She finished her first semester of collage, then had to drop out.  Our partners - Pastor Richard and Hellen Makani got a request to go to a local village and visit with the Cheif. It was the Chief that asked if our partners could help in some way. The family had fallen on hard times. Wendy's father had taken out a loan in 2016 to pay for his two oldest daughters to go to college. Then he died and left his wife to care for their four children and pay the bank loan. She only works "casual jobs" since she doesn't have any formal training, these jobs have not enough to care for everyone and pay the loan. So the bank has come in and required them to sell their home and all their possessions to pay off the loan. The family has nothing left and Wendy's hope of completing collage have taken a severe blow. Without our help she will only expect to find "casual" work because of her deafness, and even that will be difficult.

We BELIEVE we can help - by finding Wendy a sponsor for $125 a month - and a small amount of money from her mom for pocket change - Wendy can go back to collage on September 3, 2018. We want to see that happen. Can you help us? Would you be willing to come along side this beautiful young lady and give her the hand up that she needs to be able to live a life of meaning, regardless of her disability? Hellen says she has a beautiful spirit and is very determined. We will be meeting her on our trip in August 2018. We are looking forward to that. She loves to write - so letters will be very welcomed.

Built on love and hope.
