Abigail what a cutie. At 5 years old her life has been filled with hardships beyond what most of us would dare imagine. But look at that smile, it's like she doesn't know life isn't suppose to be that hard when your 5. THAT smile was mostly due to a visit from her older sister Rose who is 15 and currently living at the new children's home. Because of her age, Rose was at high risk living in the slum and was among the first group we were asked to help rescue. What no one knew was that Rose was the primary caregiver for her younger siblings and since she has been gone the remaining children have really struggled. Abigail was so happy to see Rose, most likely not really know why she wasn't there anymore.

While we visited the one-room mud home, we met Abigail's (and Rose's) mom, unfortunately she smelled of alcohol, an often used and easily obtained way to ease the pain of hunger and depression. It was apparent she had given up on providing for the children, so Rose's brother Steven had been trying his best to be the main provider.

Abigail doesn't currently go to school and often goes to bed hungry she really has no idea life could be different. We would love to help her know it can be better, so much better! A sponsorship will allow Abigail the chance to go to school from the first day she arrives at the new orphanage. As well as provide her with clothes, food, 3 times a day (wonder if she's ever experienced that) and medical attention. But we think most important to her, she will be with Rose and her other siblings; together in a safe place with a real bed and a chance at a better life!
