She is a beautiful nine year old who loves math and science and dreams one day of helping people by being a nurse in Ethiopia. Millecent lives in the slums with her mother and father. She speaks of the difficult life children lead in the slums and the massive abuse of children that takes place. Millecent speaks English quite well and describes how even other children in the slums verbally abuse her. Although her mother and father work by cleaning buses and washing clothes, they do not make enough money to provide clothes and food for the children. She prays that she will be able to finish her education and live in the orphanage where she'll be safe. Despite the sadness that Millecent feels about her life and the life of her family, she sits politely during the interview with a little smile just barely peaking through.
