UPDATE: WOW - Jessica is now 18 and going to medical school to become a nurse! What a difference sponsorship has made in her life. She was originally sponsored by Matilda Jane Clothing's corporate team. We remember that first day we met her, she was so thin from lack of food and there was little hope in her eyes. To see her thriving and chasing after her dream is amazing. Since MJC closed in late 2022, we now need a new sponsor for Jessica. She's an amazing young lady and her life is on a great path. Your sponsorship funds will help provide for her housing, food and other living expenses. Her tuition is being funded through Seed's farming project right now - but if we found a sponsor that would send a little extra it would be great... but it's not required. We'd love to see someone come alongside her that will send a letter now and then to encourage her as she continues achieving her dreams. Are you that person?

ORIGINAL STORY: Jessica is nine years old and is in the fifth grade. Jessica is a very bright young girl who loves English class and jumping rope. She hopes to be a pilot someday and says she wants "to fly an airplane to America." When asked about her family and home life, she begins to cry. She lives in the slums with her father who is an alcoholic. Her mother left the family many months ago. Her father does have a job as a watchman/guard but does not make enough money to provide for her and her eight siblings, all of whom lack shelter and food. She often plays the role of mom as she helps take care of the other children. She would like for her and all of her siblings to one day live in the orphanage . . . and cries as she tells us this.

Built on love and hope.
