UPDATE: WOW - Consolata's story is one that proves the power of sponsorship and the change it can make for these kids. She is now 18 and in her last year of high school. Her future is bright and filled with promise. She is confident, kind and a leader among her peers. Consolata loves to go with us on service projects out in the community and help others. She's been a great translator for us as we've worked with some of the younger children. We are looking for a new sponsor for Consolata. You'll love getting to know her through letters and maybe even a visit one day. Will you sponsor Consolata - she's amazing?!

ORIGINAL STORY: Consolata hopes to one day help others by becoming a doctor. She is currently 12 years old and is in the fourth grade at Seeds Academy. She has two brothers and a sister named Neema. Consolata tells us that she would one day like to visit Uganda so that she can see the big cars, planes, and beach. She describes the difficult life she leads living in the slums with her mother. Fetching water can be a dangerous task and girls are often raped on their way to or from the well. She's never met her father and feels very sad when she see other children who have fathers. She begins to tear up as she tells us about her feelings. Consolata knows nothing other than extreme poverty. She is surrounded by pain and suffering, and prays that she can one day live in the orphanage and be safe. Despite the huge smile in the picture, Consolata is deeply saddened.
