Sweet Mercy,
she's only 7 years old, she loves the color red and hopes to be a teacher one
day those hopes have been dimmed lately as her father has become paralyzed
from the waist down do his advanced stages of Aids. He is now no longer able to
work to provide food for the family and they have been told he won't live much
longer.
Mercy, her two sisters and brother often go to bed hungry, as it's difficult to
find much to eat when their only option is to pick through the trash at the
local dump. Her current home is a mud hut deep in the slum, an area that we
have never been allowed to go because of safety concerns.
The family's situation was brought to the attention of our partners who believe they need to intervene as quickly as possible.
We are looking for a sponsor for Mercy, to help her get into a safe place where she can grow up without worrying about getting enough to eat and having clothes to wear. Where she can get an education and medical attention if she needs it. Someone to write her and tell her she matters and regardless of where she comes from she can be anything she wants to be.
