UPDATE: Whitney is now 7 years old and has been absolutely thriving since being at Seed's Children's Home. She loves being in school every day and has lots of friends. Her smile is constant now and lights up any room she walks into. We are grateful for her first sponsors that have helped her find a safe place and feel loved. Little Whitney is just three years old and is the younger sister of Michelle. She lives with her grandmother because she has lost both parents. She doesn't have dreams yet of becoming anything when she grows up, perhaps not aware of what possibilities might await her. She is a very somber little girl, as her photo depicts, and hardly speaks a word. She comes across as a very quiet and shy girl but it masks her true pain and sadness. Finally, Hellen asked her to come over so she could hold her and comfort her. Whitney hesitated and would not even make eye contact but eventually shuffled over and let Hellen hold her and rock her. She was finally able to speak a few words, but it was more tears than words. It was perhaps the hardest interview to experience.
