UPDATE: Karen's now 19 and has just finished high school. She scored really well on her national exam and is currently waiting to begin college. She really wants to go on to medical school and become a nurse. Karen's been so thankful for the opportunities she's had living at Seed's. She loves to sew, knit and crochet in her spare time. We've watched in amazement as she's use a small stick from a bush to crochet. We're looking for a new sponsor for Karen as she continues into the next chapter of her life.  Your sponsor funds will help with her living expenses as she heads off to college. She loves letters and is pretty good about writing back. Would you be willing to sponsor her?

ORIGINAL STORY: Little Karen is a very petite 7 year old that didn't smile much during our time with her. She's in the third grade and has been an excellent student until recently when her teachers noticed she was missing lots of school and her marks were slipping. Our friends at Seed's Academy checked in on Karen's home life and found that their mother has been moving her, her two sisters and younger brother from place to place in the slum. For reasons Karen didn't know, her father is no longer with the family and her mother has been struggling to provide for them. They keep moving because she can't pay the rent and are constantly getting kicked out into the street. This is exposing Karen to all kinds of street life, drinking, huffing glue and fighting so she's been very scared as well as missing school.

Our friends at Seed's Children's home decided to intervene and asked Karen's mom if they could take her in,  her mom was amazed that anyone would want to help them. So Karen is now at the children's home without a sponsor. That's where Mighty Acorn Foundation comes in we really want to connect a sponsor with Karen to show her others out there care for and believe in her. Someone that will open their heart and begin developing a relationship with her and help her become a great tailor someday.

Built on love and hope.
